How to Access Your Stand Undetected

While stand location is certainly important to your deer hunting success, so is being able to access those stands undetected. If you want to consistently have enjoyable and successful hunts in those great locations, you need to access them without revealing your presence to deer noses, eyes and ears. Click on the link below to learn how.

3 carcass disposal copy.jpg

Traveling to a known CWD Zone to hunt? Disease-causing prions can be spread to new areas in deer carcasses, especially high-risk parts such as the brain, eyes, spleen and spinal cord. Dispose of them inside the CWD Zone. Many states supply disposal sites or methods. #FightCWD

Our properties are inspected by our HLN representatives and most landowners allow improvements to further enhance your hunting opportunity. So if you are looking for a new place to hunt close to home or want to try hunting a new property out of state we got you covered as the Hunting Lease Network is the nation’s leader in “Bringing Landowners and Sportsmen Together”.

onX Hunt App

onX Hunt is the #1 name in hunter navigation. With clear-marked property lines and ownership information, the Hunt App allows you to navigate and hunt with confidence. We provide data for all 50 states, displayed on our three Basemaps: topographic, satellite imagery and a combination of topo and satellite. Map layers for every state give you even more detailed information for public hunting access, species distribution and more. onX has teamed up with QDMA to provide a Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) layer, which shows the distribution of the disease state-by-state conveniently available on your mobile device.

Age This!

Pat Sobotta’s Buffalo County, Wisconsin buck has a little bit of the “rectangular look” we often associate with 4½ years of age, because his stomach doesn’t sag significantly and his back is relatively flat, but like 61% of last week’s respondents, we’re pushing this guy into the oldest group, 5½-plus, for a few reasons. Though it’s not a deep gut, his stomach definitely has a curvature from the brisket to the waist. And what a brisket! Look how deep his chest drops. Meanwhile, his neck is so heavy it is almost flush with his shoulders at the top and flows right into that deep brisket at the bottom. His neck is so broad it makes his head look like a deep wedge, and he’s got what looks like loose skin under his chin. Add to that the wrinkled skin along his neck and we say punch a tag on this fully mature whitetail!
