In response to recent actions taken by the Alabama
Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to reduce the risk of chronic
wasting disease (CWD) introduction into Alabama, some hunters and landowners
have responded negatively citing a lack of facts or science. While some
actions may be unpopular, it is QDMA’s professional opinion that the plan is
solidly grounded in the best available science and represents the most viable
approach to reduce the risk of CWD introduction. In brief, they are taking bold
actions for the right reasons to protect Alabama’s precious whitetail resource
and should be commended.
We encourage all QDMA members to download the plan at the
bottom of the landing page via this link:

We also encourage you to drop Commissioner Chris Blankenship
a short note of thanks for taking decisive action while knowing full well the
negative responses he would receive from a small but vocal minority. Let’s show him that QDMA members are just as concerned about the future of deer
and deer hunting and are willing to place the health of our herds above all
else. You can drop Chris an email at DCNR.Commissioner@dcnr.alabama.gov.
